Yemeni Houthis: We will attack cargo ships in the Red Sea again - 1

The Iranian-backed Yemeni Houthi rebels said they may launch new attacks on ships sailing in the Red Sea, the Associated Press reported, quoted by BTA.

Their warning came at a time of heightened tensions between Iran and the United States. US President Donald Trump said on Friday that an "armada" of warships was heading towards the Islamic Republic. He had earlier threatened to take military action in the Islamic Republic over its mass repression of protesters.

The Houthis today released a short video that includes previously released footage of a ship engulfed in flames. The video was captioned "soon". The rebels did not provide further details about their intentions.

Yemeni rebels began attacking vessels in the Red Sea after the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, saying the actions were a show of solidarity with the Palestinians. More than 100 ships were attacked during the campaign. The Houthis stopped their attacks after Israel and Hamas declared a ceasefire in Gaza.
