A car has driven into people outside a grocery store in Truckee, California, the Associated Press reported, citing police.
Four people, including children, were injured.
Police said they believe the man driving the car, who is from Coalinga, in the San Joaquin Valley, intentionally drove his car into pedestrians outside the store. The attacker, 49, has been arrested. The man was taken into custody in Nevada City, the administrative center of Nevada County, which is about an hour's drive from Truckee.
The city of Truckee, with a population of about 17,000 people, is close to Lake Tahoe and Donner.
A young man armed with a knife broke into a student dormitory of the Bashkir State Medical University in the administrative center of the Russian Republic of Bashkiria - the city of Ufa and injured four students and two police officers, the Investigative Committee of Russia reported, quoted by TASS.
"In hospitals in Ufa, medical assistance is being provided to the four victims of the incident in the dormitory of the BDMU, the condition of one of whom is assessed by doctors as serious. A consultation was held with specialists from the National Medical Research Center of Surgery "Vishnevsky" in Moscow, and tactics for surgical treatment have been developed. "Three of the injured are in moderately serious condition," the press service of the Russian Ministry of Health told journalists.
They added that another injured person was released for outpatient treatment.
The Investigative Committee of Russia announced that a criminal case has been opened for attempted murder of two or more people and encroachment on the life of a law enforcement officer.
