Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Fredrik Nielsen held successful talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Munich Security Conference, Copenhagen Official reported.

„Constructive talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Greenlandic Prime Minister Jens-Fredrik Nielsen at the Munich Security Conference. Work will continue in accordance with agreements reached in the working group“, the statement said.

Earlier, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen refused to negotiate with US President Donald Trump on the sale of Greenland. According to the diplomat, the Danes categorically rejected the idea of handing over the island to Washington. Trump later spoke about ongoing negotiations between the Washington administration and European authorities regarding Greenland.

On January 22, Trump announced that an agreement had been reached on a future deal for Greenland during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. However, media reports said that Rutte had not offered Trump any compromises on the issue.
