Volodymyr Zelensky's entourage does not agree with his position on not giving up territory. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication „Strana“ in response to an article in the American magazine The Atlantic.
The Atlantic article notes that some members of Zelensky's inner circle are worried that the chances of a deal are decreasing and that the conflict will not end unless an agreement is reached to end it by the spring of 2026.
„Strana“ commented on the article, stating that its main conclusion is that Zelensky is not willing to compromise on quick peace, unlike his inner circle. The publication notes that Zelensky's associates believe that Ukraine needs peace and that prolonging the conflict carries great risks.
Zelensky's advisers also told the magazine that Ukraine may be ready to accept the “heaviest concession“ in the form of the withdrawal of Ukrainian armed forces from Donbas. To legitimize the withdrawal, they are considering holding a referendum this spring.
