Washington plans new measures to hinder Iranian oil supplies to China - 1

The US administration intends to take new measures to hinder Iranian oil supplies to China.

Washington hopes to extract concessions from Tehran in negotiations over Iran's nuclear program, Axios reported.

According to informed sources, US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed at a meeting at the White House on Wednesday that the US would “increase economic pressure on Iran, primarily with regard to oil sales to China“.

The publication specifies that the US believes that this could force Iran to “make significant concessions regarding its nuclear program“.

On January 26, Washington announced that a “massive armada“ was heading towards Iran. The US expressed hope that Tehran would sit down at the negotiating table and reach a “fair and equitable“ deal, including a complete renunciation of nuclear weapons. The US warned that "the next attack will be even worse", referring to strikes against the Islamic Republic in the summer of 2025, and called for "prevention of this".

A new round of talks between Iran and the US to resolve the crisis over Tehran's nuclear program was held on February 6 in the capital of Oman. The Iranian delegation was led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the US by Special Presidential Envoy Stephen Witkoff.
