Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference. The meeting focused on prospects for Baku-Brussels cooperation and peace in the South Caucasus, according to the Azerbaijani leader's website.
“During the conversation, an exchange of views was held on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, ensuring lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus region“, the press release said.
The head of European diplomacy expressed the EU's interest in further developing relations with Azerbaijan. "The successful cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan in the energy sector was highlighted and Baku's significant contribution to ensuring Europe's energy security was noted," the statement said. The broad opportunities for cooperation in the transport sector were also noted.
