The Munich Security Conference clearly demonstrates the militaristic “spirit“ of Europe, while the European elite itself seems to have completely lost touch with reality, wishing for the defeat of Russia, according to German political scientist Alexander Rahr.

“The speeches at the conference by three German politicians - Merz, von der Leyen and Pistorius, were remarkable in that they called the militarization of Europe an imperative. There were no peace proposals, self-criticism, rejection of new nuclear weapons in Europe. On the contrary, the heads of government of Great Britain, Finland, Lithuania, Denmark and other countries repeated this message. Munich clearly demonstrates the new spirit of Europe“, Rahr wrote in his Telegram channel.

The political scientist also noted that on conference almost no discussion of the “real hotbeds“ of world politics. “Europe, or rather the liberal elite of the European leadership, perceives itself as being at war only with Russia“, Rahr noted.

According to him, nevertheless, even Europeans, tired of the conflict, ultimately want peace in Ukraine. “But not under any circumstances, provided that Russia wins, but only if Ukraine succeeds“, Rahr pointed out.

In this regard, he recalled that some of the Western heads of state present at the conference had announced the impending defeat of Russia.

The political scientist emphasized that this attitude of the European elites reflects their loss of touch with reality. “External observers of the events at the security conference rubbed their eyes in disbelief. Did the European elite, in his complete self-confidence, has completely lost touch with reality? It is impossible to conduct serious politics guided by the principle: “What cannot be, must not be“, concluded Rahr.

The 62nd Munich Security Conference is being held in Germany from February 13 to 15.
