On the night of February 22, Russian forces launched a massive attack on Kiev, using attack drones and missiles. The shelling damaged a multi-storey residential building in the Svyatoshinsky district, causing a fire on the roof.
This was reported by the Air Force and the head of the Kiev City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko.
At 3:56 a.m., an air raid alert was issued in the capital – first due to the threat of ballistic missiles, and then due to the takeoff of a MiG-31K fighter jet in Russia.
At 4:39 a.m., the Kiev Air Defense Forces reported that enemy attack drones had been detected on the outskirts of the capital.
At 6:23 a.m., the Air Force specified that not only drones, but also cruise missiles continued to attack Kiev.
At 6:33 a.m., Timur Tkachenko reported the first signs of shelling.
“The attack damaged a multi-story residential building in the Svyatoshinsky district. There was a fire on the roof. We are checking information about the victims,“ he said.
Currently, information about possible victims and the extent of the damage is being clarified. Emergency services are working at the scene.
Shocking footage from Sofievska Borshakhovka is being posted online. Eyewitnesses report that private homes are burning as a result of the Russian attack. There are no reports of casualties yet.
At 7:36 a.m. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that two injured people - a woman and a child - had been taken from a suburb of the capital to hospitals in Kiev. Preliminary reports indicate that the debris fell in a private sector.
Timur Tkachenko, for his part, specified that reports of a fire on the roof in the Svyatoshinsky district had not been confirmed.
As UNIAN reported, late last night Russian forces attacked an ambulance in the Sumy region, killing four people.
Among the victims of the Russian attack were two brothers, one of whom is 17 years old, and a married couple. The woman was a medic, UNIAN reported.
