Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated his compatriots on Defender of the Fatherland Day and emphasized the importance of nuclear forces for the country's security, DPA reported, BTA reports.
In a video address on the occasion of the holiday, the head of state said that the development of the nuclear triad remains an “absolute priority“, as it guarantees Russia's security and maintains the strategic balance of power in the world.
According to him, Moscow will continue to modernize other types of weapons in order to increase the combat readiness, mobility and ability of the army to act in any conditions, including in the most difficult situations.
The Russian leader gave a positive assessment of the military operations in Ukraine and honored the memory of dead. He said that representatives of all peoples in the country are defending Russian interests at the front.
The full-scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 24, 2022, on the orders of the Kremlin. In his speech, Putin again expressed confidence that Russia would emerge victorious from the conflict.
The president added that the country would continue to strengthen its armed forces and navy, including based on the combat experience gained in Ukraine.
