The German Foreign Ministry has urged German citizens in the Middle East to take precautions given the potential risk of a US attack on Iran, which could have consequences for Israel and other countries in the region, DPA reported, BTA reported.
Germans in Israel are advised to prepare to remain indefinitely where they are in case airspace is closed due to Iranian attacks, the German embassy in Tel Aviv said.
If the US attacks Iran, Tehran is expected to strike targets in Israel, DPA reported.
German citizens in Israel are advised to install an app on their mobile phones that warns of impending missile attacks. The ministry also recommends that "given the escalating security situation in the region", people stock up on provisions and familiarize themselves with the options for protection and shelter.
The foreign ministry also warned of a worsening security situation in Israel's neighboring country, Lebanon. In the event of further escalation, flight restrictions could be imposed at any time, the German embassy in Beirut stressed.
The Lebanese group "Hezbollah" is considered Iran's most important ally in the region.
As early as 2024, the Shiite group entered into open war with Israel. Since then, it is believed to have been significantly weakened. However, there are fears that the group could intervene in the conflict in the event of an attack on Iran.
