The US and a group of Arab countries condemned the Iranian attacks in the region and called them a dangerous escalation that violates the sovereignty of multiple countries and threatens regional stability, DPA reported, BTA reported.
A joint statement by the US State Department, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates said that Iran's "unjustified strikes" were directed against sovereign territory, that they put the civilian population at risk and caused damage to civilian infrastructure.
The statement added that "targeting civilians and against countries not participating in hostilities is reckless and destabilizing behavior."
The countries said they “united in defense of their citizens, sovereignty and territory“ and reaffirmed “their right to self-defense“.
The United States and Israel have been striking targets in Iran since Saturday. Tehran has responded with strikes against Israel and US military bases in the region, with attacks reported in Jordan, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Iraq. A number of Middle Eastern countries have been “indirect victims” of Iran's retaliatory strikes in its confrontation with the United States and Israel.
