Paphos airport on the west coast of Cyprus was evacuated after radars detected a suspicious object, Reuters reports, News.bg reports.
The facility is located about 60 kilometers from the British military base in Akrotiri, which was hit by an unmanned drone at night. Shortly after noon, sirens were triggered at the base and planes took off.
The incident occurred against the backdrop of American and Israeli strikes against Iran and the subsequent response from Tehran. On March 1, the Cypriot government denied that there had been an Iranian missile attack on the island.
