The Czech Republic is sending two military planes to the Middle East to evacuate its citizens, Prime Minister Andrej Babis said today after a meeting of the National Security Council in Prague, DPA reported, BTA reported.

One plane will fly to the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, and the other to the Jordanian capital, Amman. Some of the passengers are expected to be Czech citizens who left Israel by land.

Babiš also said that the Czech airline "Smartwings" (Smartwings) will bring home several hundred tourists from Oman.

The Foreign Ministry in Prague said that about 6,500 Czechs currently in the Middle East have been placed on a list for emergency action.

On Saturday, the first day of joint US-Israeli air strikes against the Islamic Republic, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. Tehran responded with attacks on Israel and targets in the Persian Gulf region, where US military bases are located. Thousands of people were stranded due to the closure of airspace.
