Explosions rock Doha, Security Council to hold emergency meeting - 1

Several explosions were heard in the Qatari capital, Doha, Agence France-Presse reported, citing reports from its reporters on the ground, BTA reported.

This happened on the twelfth day of the war, which began with the Israeli-American offensive against Iran. Earlier, the Qatari Interior Ministry reported a "high level of security threat" and urged residents not to go out and stay away from windows.

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today on the conflict in Lebanon, as the war shakes the Middle East, DPA reported.

The Council, the most influential body of the UN, will meet in New York at 10 am. Diplomats said the council was also expected to vote on a draft resolution submitted by Bahrain on behalf of the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The Gulf states continue to be targeted by Iranian missile and drone attacks.

The draft resolution calls for an immediate end to Iranian attacks on the Gulf states and other neighboring countries, as well as an end to the use of foreign groups as mediators in the conflict.

Among the groups supported by Iran are Lebanon's "Hezbollah" and Yemen's Houthis.

The Israeli strikes today targeted an apartment building in downtown Beirut, Lebanese state media reported, the second strike in the city in recent days. There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military or any reports of casualties, Reuters reported.

A previous strike in Beirut on Sunday killed five members of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Lebanon was drawn into the regional conflict after Hezbollah launched strikes on Israel, saying it was seeking revenge for the assassination of Iran's supreme leader, Reuters recalled.
