The Wall Street Journal: Iranian strike hits five US planes at Prince Sultan air base in Saudi Arabia - 1

Five more US Air Force tanker planes were damaged in an Iranian missile strike on the Prince Sultan air base in Saudi Arabia, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing two US officials.

The planes were damaged but not completely destroyed and are currently being repaired, one of the officials said. No one was killed in the strikes.

This brings the total number of US Air Force tankers damaged or destroyed to at least seven, the publication reported.

Earlier on Thursday, March 12, two Air Force KC-135 tankers collided over western Iraq, in resulting in one crashing into the ground. All six crew members were killed. The Shiite militant group “Islamic Resistance in Iraq“ later claimed responsibility for the attack.

The KC-135 Stratotanker is an aerial refueling tanker aircraft developed by Boeing in the 1950s based on the Boeing 707 airliner.
