Tokyo police arrest Yakuza members for carjacking VIDEO - 1

Tokyo police have arrested seven suspects, including members of the Japanese mafia group Yakuza, in connection with a robbery in Tokyo in late January, Kyodo News reported.

Among those arrested is a 21-year-old member of Japan's largest mafia syndicate, the Yamaguchi-gumi.

Police are investigating a possible link between the suspects and another attempted robbery that took place the same day in the parking lot of the international terminal at Tokyo's Haneda Airport. There, unknown assailants attacked cash trucks carrying hundreds of millions of yen.

Late on the evening of January 29, thieves attacked cash trucks as they were loading three suitcases containing approximately 420 million yen (approximately $2.7 million) in cash into a car.

They sprayed their victims with tear gas, stole their suitcases, and got into a car driven by an accomplice.

While fleeing, the criminals hit a pedestrian.
