Air Canada Express plane collides with fire truck at New York's Guardia Airport! Two pilots killed - 1

An "Air Canada Express" plane, serving a regional route, collided with a fire truck while landing at New York's Guardia Airport late last night, killing two pilots and closing the airport, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

According to NBC, which first reported the pilots' deaths, dozens of passengers were injured in the collision.

The New York and New Jersey Airport Authority said the fire truck was on its way to another incident when it was hit by the plane. A sergeant and an officer in the ground vehicle have broken limbs and are in stable condition in hospital.

The CRJ-900 aircraft, coming from Montreal, collided with the vehicle at a speed of about 39 km/h, the Flightradar24 website reported, which recorded the data at 23:37.

Photos taken after the incident show visible damage to the nose of the aircraft, which was tilted upwards.

There is no comment yet on the injuries from the authorities and emergency services.

The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the airport is expected to remain closed until 14:00 local time today, and the website of the "Guardia" showed that arriving planes were diverted to other airports or returned to their points of departure.

The plane involved in the incident was operated by Air Canada's regional partner, Jazz. Jazz's CRJ-900 aircraft can carry up to 76 passengers, according to Air Canada's website. According to NBC, there were 76 passengers and four crew members on board.

In 2025, Guardia Airport served more than 30 million passengers.
