An explosion has occurred at the Valero Energy refinery in Port Arthur, Texas, KFDM television reported.
The incident was likely caused by a faulty heater. Footage from the scene showed thick, dark smoke rising from the refinery. There were no reports of injuries yet.
Residents of western Port Arthur are advised to take shelter and stay where they are.
The Valero Energy refinery in Port Arthur processes approximately 435,000 barrels of oil per day into gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.
