Iran is deploying additional military personnel and air defense systems to Kharg Island in preparation for a possible US ground operation, CNN reported, citing US intelligence sources.
According to US intelligence agencies, Iran has also placed anti-personnel and anti-tank mines around the island and along its coastline in areas where US troops could potentially land.
“Iran would do everything it can to ensure that its actions result in maximum casualties among US troops, both at sea and after the ground forces land on their territory,“ former Supreme Allied Commander Europe James Stavridis told the channel.
