The US Navy aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" remains in Iranian waters and continues to send aircraft from its deck to strike targets, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported.
Earlier, the Iranian military reported the launch of missiles at the aircraft carrier. The commander of the Iranian Navy, Shahram Irani, said that Tehran is monitoring the movements of the aircraft carrier and will strike it as soon as it comes within the range of Iranian missile systems.
“The aircraft carrier "Abraham Lincoln" continues to send flights against military facilities in Iran while in regional waters,“ wrote CENTCOM on social media.
On March 16, the Defense Security Asia portal reported that the aircraft carrier had moved more than 1,100 kilometers from Iran to the southwestern waters of Oman.
According to the portal, the position of the “Abraham Lincoln“ was corrected after an attack by Iranian warships on the vessel, which was part of the aircraft carrier's strike group.
On March 23, the US Navy's Sixth Fleet reported that the largest American aircraft carrier, “Gerald Ford”, had also left the vulnerable zone near Iranian coastal waters and arrived at a naval base on the Greek island of Crete for repairs after a fire.
