Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that restrictions on shipping are being introduced in connection with the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, citing state media in the country, quoted by BTA.
According to the statement, the passage of ships to and from ports of countries that are considered allies or supporters of the United States and Israel is prohibited on all routes and directions.
The IRGC stated that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and any attempts to pass will be met with "strict measures".
According to information from the Iranian authorities, three container ships, flying under different flags, have already been forced to withdraw from the area after warnings issued by the Corps' naval forces.
