Moscow will do everything possible to return Russians Sergei Ivin and Oleg Olshansky to their homeland after their extradition from Bulgaria to the United States, the Russian Foreign Ministry told RIA Novosti.

„Despite all efforts, it was not possible to avoid the handover of Ivin and Olshansky to the US authorities and on March 26 this year the Russian citizens were extradited. All necessary support will be provided to them in the future through Russian missions abroad in the United States,“ the ministry announced.

The ministry explained that a note was sent to Sofia calling on it to refrain from such actions.

“We will continue to do everything in our power to alleviate the plight of Russian citizens and ensure their speedy return to their homeland,“ the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.

In December, a Bulgarian court approved the extradition of Ivin and Olshansky. They are accused of violating US sanctions and money laundering.
