Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today that Israel has achieved more than half of its military goals against Iran, without, however, giving a more specific timetable for ending the war. He said this in an interview with the American conservative television channel "Newsmax", quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
"It is clear that we have passed the halfway point. But I do not want to set a timetable", the Israeli prime minister replied on the 31st day of the war against Iran.
"I think this regime will collapse from within. For now, at this point, what we are doing is simply undermining their military capacity, their ballistic capacity, their nuclear capacity, and also weakening them from within," Netanyahu added.
A committee in the Iranian parliament has approved a draft law to introduce transit fees for ships passing through the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state media reported today, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reports.
Citing a member of the parliamentary security committee, state television specified that the bill provides for "financial provisions and fee systems in rials", the Iranian currency, as well as cooperation with Oman, on the other side of the strait.
It also includes "a ban on the passage of Americans and the Zionist regime" (Israel), as well as a ban on other countries imposing sanctions on Iran.
In peacetime, about a fifth of the world's trade in crude oil and liquefied natural gas passes through the Strait of Hormuz, AFP reports.
Since the start of the war, traffic there has fallen by about 95%, according to the analytical center "Kpler". The consequences are being felt in all global energy markets.
