EU allocates 2 million euros in humanitarian aid to Cuba - 1

The European Commission announced that it is allocating two million euros in humanitarian aid to Cuba due to the deteriorating situation in the country. The funds will support humanitarian partners on the ground and the provision of emergency aid to the most vulnerable, the statement said, BTA reported.

The Commission specifies that the aid is being provided due to the energy crisis in Cuba and the related difficulties in distributing food and drinking water. The EC notes that earlier this year it proposed that Havana receive 4 million euros in aid. Last year, the EU provided Cuba with 6 million euros to prevent the consequences of disasters and emergencies in the country.

Cuba has been suffering from a severe energy crisis for months after oil supplies were cut off. The US is pushing for a change of government and has warned that it may intervene to achieve this goal.
