Iran attacks UAE aluminum industry - 1

The Iranian army has used missiles and drones to attack UAE aluminum industry facilities in which the US and Israel have invested, the General Staff of the Islamic Republic's Armed Forces said.

“We have targeted the UAE aluminum industry“, the General Staff said in a statement. It said the US and Israel “have significant investments in the UAE aluminum industry and are using it to produce military equipment”. The Iranian military added that Tehran believes that "the enemy is using UAE industrial products to produce fighter jets, including the F-35, as well as missiles, tanks and other armored vehicles."

No information was provided on the effectiveness of the attacks.

The actions of the Iranian authorities aimed at regulating and controlling shipping in the Strait of Hormuz are in line with international legal norms, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said.

"The procedures established by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz are in line with international law," Araghchi said during a telephone conversation with the Austrian foreign minister, according to a press release from the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

During the conversation, Araghchi confirmed that "ships of non-hostile countries can pass through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with Iran“.
