Axios: US, Iran Discuss 45-Day Ceasefire - 1

The US and Iran are discussing a possible 45-day ceasefire, Axios reported, citing its sources.

According to their information, “the US, Iran and a group of regional mediators are discussing the terms of a possible 45-day ceasefire that could end the conflict“.

The sources admit that “the chances of a deal in the next 48 hours are low“, but it may be “the only way to prevent a significant escalation that would mean massive strikes on Iranian civilian infrastructure and retaliatory strikes on energy facilities and water systems in the Persian Gulf states“.

Axios sources note that Mediators in Pakistan, Egypt and Turkey are trying to secure confidence-building measures from the parties, hoping that Iran will take certain steps to open the Strait of Hormuz and resolve the issue of its nuclear program. “They are also working on what measures the Trump administration could take to assure Iran that the ceasefire will not be temporary and that the conflict will not resume“, the portal writes.

Earlier, in an interview with Axios, the US president said that there was a high probability of concluding a deal with Iran by April 7. In Truth Social, he threatened to strike energy and civilian infrastructure if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz by April 6. Later, the US leader extended the deadline for concluding a possible deal with Iran by 24 hours - to 8:00 p.m. Eastern time on April 7 (2:00 a.m. Bulgarian time on April 8).
