Russia did not discuss in advance with the other parties in the negotiations on Ukraine the declaration of a ceasefire on April 11-12 on the occasion of Orthodox Easter, said the press secretary of the president Dmitry Peskov.
“No”, he answered when asked whether the Easter ceasefire was related to the resumption of negotiations and whether it was discussed in advance with the United States, as a mediator, or with Ukraine.
As reported by the Kremlin press service, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced an Easter ceasefire from 4:00 p.m. on April 11 until the end of April 12. Russian troops were instructed to cease hostilities in all directions but remain ready to counter enemy aggression.
Russia will not withdraw from the Western Hemisphere, no matter what Washington says, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said at a press conference at the Russian Embassy in Havana.
“Russia has no intention of withdrawing from the Western Hemisphere, no matter what Washington says. They are obsessed with expelling Russia, as well as China, from the region“, the diplomat noted.
“Our relations with Cuba are special“, he stressed. “Cuba means a lot to the Russian people, both politically and emotionally. For us, Cubans are brothers. And we cannot simply betray Cuba - that is completely out of the question; we cannot leave it to its fate. This would be fundamentally contrary to what is the basis of our brotherhood and our friendship“, Ryabkov noted.
The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister participated in Russian-Cuban consultations in Havana and met with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel.
The Russian President's Special Representative Kirill Dmitriev said that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is trying to shift responsibility for his failed energy policy onto others.
“Failing in everything, Starmer, as always, is trying to shift responsibility for his failed energy policy onto others. He is not Churchill“, the Russian wrote on his blog.
Dmitriev was commenting on the news that the British politician is unhappy with the instability of European households' electricity bills.
