After the failure in Islamabad: It is unclear if, where and when the US-Iran talks will continue - 1

The US-Iranian negotiation process in Islamabad, held with the mediation of Pakistan, has ended. Details of a possible new round of negotiations remain unknown, the Tasnim news agency reported.

According to the agency, during 21 hours of consultations at various levels, the Iranian delegation repeatedly "unsuccessfully called" the US delegation to adopt a realistic approach to the negotiations.

Earlier, after consultations with Tehran, US Vice President Vance said that the parties had failed to reach an agreement and that the US delegation had decided to return to the United States, presenting Iran with a final proposal.

The talks in Islamabad between the US and Iran ended without achieving a diplomatic breakthrough, which led to an escalation of tensions.

President Donald Trump announced that the talks had not led to the desired result and issued serious warnings to Tehran. He said that if they failed, US forces would try to unblock the Strait of Hormuz by force and threatened new strikes, emphasizing that the US ships were “loaded with the best ammunition“.

The discussions in the Pakistani capital, which began with preliminary meetings between specialists on Friday, were to continue until Sunday. Despite calls from countries such as Spain for “good faith negotiations”, the parties have failed to find common ground.

Islamabad itself remained under blockade and heightened security measures throughout the process.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte has criticized some European allies, saying they have “failed” in their approach to the conflict with Iran.
