The administration of US President Donald Trump intends to use the production facilities of American automakers to produce weapons, The Wall Street Journal reports.
According to the newspaper, senior Pentagon officials have held talks with the heads of several automakers, including General Motors and Ford.
The US Department of Defense is interested in using the production facilities and personnel of automakers to increase the production of ammunition and military equipment, the stocks of which have been depleted by the sales of American weapons to Kiev and the US-Israeli military operation against Iran.
The publication notes that such measures “reminiscent of practices used during World War II war“.
