US President Donald Trump said that Iran has agreed to transfer enriched uranium from sites hit in June 2025 to the United States.
„They have agreed to give us nuclear dust. It is buried deep underground because of the attacks that we carried out with B-2 bombers“, Trump told reporters, quoted by The Washington Post.
Trump used the term „nuclear dust“ to describe the enriched uranium that the IAEA says is buried deep underground because of US strikes on key nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic.
„We agree on a lot of things with Iran. And I think something very positive is going to happen,” the American leader added.
He previously wrote in Truth Social that Tehran would no longer enrich uranium. In addition, according to the White House, the United States, “in cooperation with Iran,” will export its enriched uranium. There was no confirmation of this from Tehran.
On April 7, the US president announced a two-week mutual ceasefire with the Islamic Republic. On April 11, Iran and the US held several rounds of talks in Islamabad, but the parties failed to reach an agreement on a long-term settlement of the conflict due to a number of differences. It is not yet known whether a new round of consultations will be held. After the failed negotiations, the US imposed a naval blockade of Iran on April 13.
