Egypt is working with Pakistan to draft a framework aimed at achieving lasting peace between the US and Iran, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.
The foreign ministers of Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia met on the sidelines of the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya. According to Abdelati, Egypt, Turkey, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are coordinating broader regional efforts aimed at preventing further escalation and laying the foundations for a post-war security agreement.
He stressed the importance of protecting Gulf states, as well as stabilizing energy markets, supply chains and food security.
Iran today reimposed restrictions on passage through the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for global trade, world agencies reported.
Tehran accused the United States of violating the terms of the deal to open the strait, the Associated Press notes.
