US President Donald Trump said on Truth Social that Israel, unlike other countries, has proven itself to be a reliable ally of the United States during the current crisis.
According to Trump, this happened while other countries have “showed their true colors“ in difficult situations.
“Regardless of whether people like Israel or not, it has proven itself to be a great ally of the United States of America. They are brave, faithful, loyal and smart, and unlike others who have shown their true colors in times of conflict and anxiety, Israel fights hard and knows how to WIN!“, the American leader's publication says.
The US president has previously criticized NATO allies, saying that “they were not there when we needed them“.
Trump's statement comes amid growing disagreements between the US and Israel over military strategy in the region. Trump has previously sharply criticized the Israeli government, declaring a ban on bombing Lebanon and threatening unilateral measures to ensure stability in the country.
The Israeli leadership, for its part, has clearly stated that its military decisions are independent of Washington's political will, Al-Quds reports.
