Senior Sergeant Lidor Porat, 31, "fell in action in southern Lebanon," the statement said. Nine Israeli soldiers were wounded in the same incident, one of them seriously.
Yesterday, the Israeli army reported the death of a 48-year-old reservist commander also in southern Lebanon.

Mediators in the US-Iran talks are pushing for a compromise on three main points - Iran's nuclear program, the Strait of Hormuz and reparations for damage caused during military operations, a regional representative involved in the mediation initiatives said.
The US and the international community are primarily pushing for the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, as the global energy crisis deepens every day due to the closure of the key sea route through which a fifth of the world's oil supplies pass.
