The US delegation at the recent talks with Cuba discussed economic reforms on the island.
This was reported by NewsNation journalist Kelly Meyer, citing an unnamed State Department official.
“Among the topics of discussion were the need for Cuba to implement significant economic and governance reforms to increase competition, attract foreign investment and provide opportunities for private sector growth“, she wrote in X.
According to Meyer, US representatives have also presented a proposal to allow the Starlink satellite communications system in Cuba.
Earlier, the Cuban Foreign Ministry confirmed a meeting with US representatives on the island.
The US delegation included assistant secretaries of state, and the Cuban delegation - representatives at the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs.
