China said the situation in the Middle East is at a "critical point", without commenting on US President Donald Trump's publicly announced extension of the ceasefire with Iran, Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported, BTA reports.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said at a regular briefing that Beijing is ready to continue playing a "constructive role" in efforts to find a political solution to the crisis.
According to him, the region is at a "critical point of transition from war to peace", with the main priority being to prevent the resumption of hostilities.
