EU's top diplomat: Europe will support Kiev until Putin understands the futility of this war - 1

After unblocking a 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine, the head of the European diplomatic service, Kaia Kalas, assured that the European Union will support Ukraine until Russian President Vladimir Putin understands that the war has 'no prospects', the EP reports.

Today, 23 April, the Council of the EU adopted by written procedure amendments to the EU's long-term budget for 2021-27, which will allow Ukraine to receive the 90 billion euro loan in 2026-27, as well as the 20th package of EU sanctions against Russia.

''The deadlock street has been overcome. Russia's military economy is under increasing pressure, while Ukraine is receiving strong support, Kalas said after this decision.

She also assured that the EU is providing Ukraine with everything it needs to hold its positions, ''until Putin realizes that his war has no prospects''.

The adoption of both decisions was preceded by the physical release of Russian oil into the territory of Hungary and Slovakia through the ''Druzhba'' pipeline. Only then did the two countries sign the decision on sanctions against Russia and the loan for Ukraine.

We recall that in recent months Bratislava and Budapest have vetoed the decisions, precisely because of the damage to the oil pipeline, which deprived them of Russian oil for 3 months.
