US President Donald Trump confirmed that he intends to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, even if it leads to oil prices rising to $200 a barrel.
The American leader admitted to reporters at the White House that his compatriots should prepare for continued high gasoline prices for the foreseeable future.
Trump was asked if he would feel comfortable in a situation where oil prices could jump “to $200 a barrel“.
“I think there's nothing worse than destroying one, two or three of your cities with nuclear weapons. I think there's nothing worse than destroying the Middle East, including Israel, with nuclear weapons. I think there's nothing worse than attacking Europe with missiles capable of reaching it," the president replied.
He believes that Iran could "in the not-so-distant future" develop missiles capable of reaching the continental United States if Tehran is not controlled. The stakes, Trump argues, are also preventing a "nuclear holocaust in Europe."
