First full gas tanker breaks through Strait of Hormuz blockade since early March - 1

A fully loaded tanker with liquefied natural gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz today, the first such case since early March, when the strategic strait was practically closed due to the conflict in the Middle East, reported Agence France-Presse, citing data from the company Kpler, BTA reports.

According to the specialized maritime traffic platform, the vessel “Mubaraz“, operated by the national oil company of the United Arab Emirates, left the Persian Gulf in April with 132,890 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas on board.

The tanker passed through the Strait of Hormuz - a key route through which, under normal conditions, about 20% of the world's seaborne trade in energy raw materials.

The data shows that the ship was loaded on Das Island in the UAE as early as March 2, after which it turned off its transponder for about a month at the end of the same month. Its signal was only restored off the coast of India.

The passage of the “Mubaraz“ is seen as the first clear sign of a partial movement of energy traffic through one of the busiest sea corridors in the world.
