The commercial container ship RMS TEAM was attacked by a drone in the Black Sea. As a result of the strike, a serious fire broke out on board the vessel, which subsequently spread to the cargo container areas. According to initial data, one of the crew members was declared missing and is missing.
The operator Akkon Lines reported that based on current information, the damage to the vessel is critical and there is a possibility that the ship and all the cargo on board will be recognized as a total constructive loss. According to the international maritime traffic tracking system MarineTraffic, the container ship RMS TEAM set sail on August 12 from the Turkish port of Gemlik in the Sea of Marmara, with its final destination being the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk.
The ship's automatic identification system (AIS) last sent a signal on August 18, when it was northeast of the Turkish city of Samsun. The incident coincides with a series of reports in the international business media that in recent days Ukrainian sea and air drones have attacked a number of vessels transporting grain and fuel near the Russian terminals in Novorossiysk and Tuapse.
