The Russian Federation is already losing the war it has unleashed against Ukraine and will ultimately suffer a complete defeat. This was announced by Ukraine's permanent representative to the UN Andriy Melnyk during an official meeting of the UN Security Council. The diplomatic meeting was convened on the occasion of Ukraine's Independence Day.
The Ukrainian representative stressed that despite the ongoing barbaric attacks on the civilian population, Moscow is facing irreversible collapse. According to his statement, quoted by the Ukrinform news agency, the main factors for Russia's military failure are three:
- Economic Exhaustion: Vast military spending undermines the stability of the Russian Federation.
- International sanctions: Isolation severely limits the possibilities for financing the fighting.
- Precise Ukrainian strikes: Kiev's attacks on strategic targets are paralyzing the Russian military machine.
As direct evidence of the deepening crisis in Russia, Andriy Melnyk pointed to the recent dismissal of Andriy Klepach - chief economist of the second largest state bank VEB.RF. According to the diplomat, his removal was carried out on the personal order of the Kremlin after his warnings that Moscow would not withstand a long economic war.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian delegation called on the UN Security Council to take decisive action by adopting a special resolution for an immediate ceasefire and the creation of a buffer zone for security on the Russian side of the border. For his part, the US Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dan Negrea, called on both sides to stop the attacks on civilian targets and return to the negotiating table.
