Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that Europe has entered a pre-war era. According to him, if Ukraine is defeated by Russia, no one in Europe will be able to feel safe, the BBC reported.
He emphasized that war is no longer a concept of the past. According to him, it is quite real and started two years ago.
Donald Tusk, former president of the European Council, pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin has already blamed Ukraine for the terrorist attack on the Crocus City Hall in Moscow without any evidence. Putin clearly feels the need to justify increasingly violent attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine, he added.
Whether Joe Biden or Donald Trump wins the US presidential election in November, Tusk believes that Europe will become a more attractive partner for the US if it becomes more militarily independent.
It is not about Europe achieving military autonomy from the US or creating "parallel NATO structures". Poland now spends 4% of its economic output on defense, and every other European country must spend 2% of GDP, and the European Union as a whole is mentally ready to fight for its security, explained the Polish Prime Minister.
Calling for urgent military aid to Ukraine, Tusk warned that the next two years of war will decide everything. According to him, we are living in the most critical moment since the end of the Second World War. According to him, any scenarios are possible.
