Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will conclude new agreements with US President Joe Biden during his visit to the White House, and Japanese businesses will sign investment agreements and strengthen other ties, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The agency lists the important ones as follows:

Japan and the US are expected to announce plans to modernize their military alliance, including changes to the US military command in Japan and more joint defense development.

Biden's meeting with Kishida is expected to address the issue of possible Japanese participation in advanced capability projects of the AUKUS security pact. The US, UK and Australia established AUCUS in 2021 to counter China's growing influence.

Meanwhile, more joint patrols can be expected in the South China Sea following exercises by the United States, Australia, the Philippines and Japan last weekend, US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said

On Tuesday "Microsoft" said it will invest $2.9 billion over two years to expand its cloud services and artificial intelligence infrastructure in Japan.

Also on Tuesday, the countries announced that four universities will partner on artificial intelligence research, funded by $110 million in private sector investment from NVIDIA Amazon, Softbank Microsoft and other companies.

Japan hopes to land its first astronaut on the moon with America's Artemis project, which envisions returning humans there by 2026 as competition from Russia and China intensifies.

Biden and Kishida leaders are also expected to discuss a bullet train project in Texas that will use Japanese technology and investment.
