German Chancellor Olaf Scholz arrived in the city of Chongqing (southwest China), with which he began his visit to China, reported China Central Television.
This is the German chancellor's second visit to China and the first visit by a Western leader to the country in 2024
The German chancellor is accompanied by three ministers responsible for the environment, agriculture and transport. The delegation includes representatives of leading German companies Siemens, BMW, Mercedes-Benz.
On April 16, Scholz will hold talks in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. First, the chancellor will visit the central city of Chongqing: on April 14, he will inspect the site of a German manufacturer of hydrogen power plants, and the next day he will go to Shanghai, where he will get acquainted with the work of a plant for the production of plastic products.
