Explosions and air raid sirens were heard in Israel early this morning after Iran launched hundreds of drones, ballistic cruise missiles in an unprecedented direct strike. An Israeli military spokesman said more than 300 drones and missiles were fired, but 99% of them were intercepted, the Associated Press reported, BTA reported.
Spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari specified that Iran had launched 170 drones, more than 30 cruise missiles and more than 120 ballistic missiles, but of these, several ballistic missiles reached Israeli territory, causing minor damage to an air base.< /p>
The speaker described this result as "an extremely significant strategic success". Rescuers said a 7-year-old girl from an Arab Bedouin town was seriously injured in southern Israel, apparently by a rocket, although police said they were still investigating the circumstances of the injuries.
In Washington, President Joe Biden said US forces had helped Israel topple "almost all" drones and missiles, and promised to convene allies to prepare a unified response. Iran carried out its attack less than two weeks after an alleged Israeli strike in Syria killed Iranian generals at the Iranian consulate building. It is Tehran's first direct military attack on Israel, despite decades of hostility dating back to the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution.
