The governor of Russia's Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, said that Russian air defense forces shot down three Ukrainian weather balloons over the region, which were supposedly intended for strikes, the BBC quoted him as saying.

At the same time, on his Telegram channel, Bogomaz called the balloons "air reconnaissance objects".

According to Bogomaz, their shooting down did not result in casualties or damage.

On April 16, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a Ukrainian small-sized balloon was shot down over the territory of Kursk region.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported that at about 11:20 Moscow time a Ukrainian drone was shot down over Tatarstan.

The Russian military department did not write about any consequences.

The airports were closed "to ensure the safety of civil aircraft flights".

The Russian Defense Ministry earlier said that at about 8:00 a.m. a drone was shot down over the territory of Mordovia, which borders the Nizhny Novgorod region and Tatarstan.
