Ammunition depots in Belgium are empty, federal lawmaker Theo Franken, a member of the parliamentary defense committee, was quoted as saying in local media. He insisted on urgent measures to restore the stocks, of which large quantities were sent to help Ukraine, writes BTA.
According to him, today Belgium does not meet NATO's requirements in this regard and would not be able to help the allies if necessary. According to him, the country would not be able to withstand an attack for more than a few hours.
Franken is a representative of the nationalist New Flemish Alliance and was previously secretary of state for asylum and migration. Today he is the vice-president of the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO and the head of the Belgian delegation in this organization.
