A ship caught fire in the port of Sevastopol on the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula, military sources in Kiev reported this afternoon, that it is the "Communa" rescue ship, reported DPA, quoted by BTA.
The catamaran, which was launched in 1912, is probably the oldest operating ship in the Russian Navy. Russian social networks reported an explosion on the ship today, which may have been caused by a missile or combat drone strike.
Initially, there was no official statement from the Russian side, DPA points out.
In recent months, Ukrainian armed forces have repeatedly attacked Russian ships around Crimea with various weapon systems, DPA recalls.
Meanwhile, Russian armed forces attacked the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa from the Crimean peninsula with ballistic missiles. Ukrainian media reported today about an explosion in the city in which at least four people were injured.
