Sergei Shoigu: We will step up strikes on Western weapons depots in Ukraine - 1

Russia will step up strikes on Ukrainian storage bases where weapons supplied by the West are stored, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said today, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

In a speech to defense officials, Shoigu also said that Russia had "dispelled the myth of the superiority of Western weapons" and its forces have won the initiative along the 1,000-kilometer front.

He also commented on the fact that Washington is ready to provide Ukraine with a new military aid package worth nearly 61 billion dollars after its vote by the House of Representatives on Saturday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi said that Kiev will soon receive more ATACMS long-range missile systems (ATACMS) as part of the package. US officials say the aid will also include supplies of ammunition and interceptors for air defense systems.

"In proportion to the threats posed by the United States and its allies, we will continue to improve the composition and structure of the armed forces and increase the production of the most popular weapons and military equipment," Shoigu said.

"We will increase the intensity of attacks against logistics centers and Western weapons storage bases".
