The Iranian army today presented a new kamikaze drone, similar to those used by Russia in the war in Ukraine, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
According to Iran's state-run Tasmin news agency, the new unmanned aerial vehicle, whose name was not publicly disclosed, resembles the Russian Lancet drone, which has been in production since 2020. Tasmin also shared a video with the new Iranian weapon.
Tehran claims to have made great progress in the production of drones in recent years, and the Russian army is using many Iranian drones in the war in Ukraine, DPA notes.
A few days ago, the United States, Great Britain and Canada imposed new sanctions on the Islamic Republic to limit its ability to develop and manufacture drones after the Iranian attack on Israel. Tehran launched its attack on the night of April 14 in retaliation for an April 1 airstrike on Iran's diplomatic compound in the Syrian capital Damascus that killed senior generals from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
A spokesman for Iran's foreign ministry said that "these sanctions … will only strengthen military power and independence" of Iran.
