Hundreds of men gathered in front of a hostel in Bishkek on Friday evening, reported 24.kg.
On May 13, in the courtyard of the dormitory where foreigners live, a fight took place with their participation. During the riots, several local residents were beaten.
According to 24.kg, they “wanted to deal with the foreigners”. Reinforced police teams arrived at the scene and detained about 10 people from the crowd. At the same time, a criminal case was opened for beating local residents, three foreigners were detained.
The head of the city directorate of internal affairs of Bishkek, Azamat Toktonaliev, held negotiations with the crowd in the center of the city, after which the people agreed to disperse.
A video recording of the conversation, which generally took place in a calm atmosphere, was published on his Telegram channel.
Earlier, the agency reported that internal troops had cordoned off a street in the center of the Kyrgyz capital where a crowd had gathered after a conflict at a dormitory, and water cannons had been brought to the scene. According to him, about a thousand have gathered behind the cordon.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, the police officers worked in intensive mode, conducting explanatory work with the citizens. In addition, the movement of motor vehicles has been restored on all capital streets, the department specified.
